Artist Statement
As a street photographer who predominantly shoots with film, my work is an attempt to continue the enduring allure of analog. The act of shooting does not end the moment. Each frame captured on film only becomes permanent after I develop the roll.
Film photography, with its inherent limitations and unpredictability, adds another layer of intimacy to my process. There are many frames that only exist in my mind after a botched developing session. So each image isn't just a testament to skill but luck.
When using a digital camera, I attempt to keep the same limitations that my film cameras force upon me.
In a world inundated with instant gratification and digital perfection, my work invites viewers to slow down, to pause, and to engage with the intricacies of the human experience. There are rolls of film that sit for months before I see the final images. Through the medium of film, I strive to evoke a sense of timelessness, inviting viewers to see the world anew, one frame at a time.
