Spring Botanical Dye Printmaking with Christine Harrison

In this introduction to botanical dye printing, learn how to extract nature’s textures and colors to print on paper. Working with fresh leaves participants will learn how to make bundles to dye by boiling and steaming. During the workshop participants can work along with instructor and make several pieces. The class starts with simple and easily available plant dyes and discuss other dyes and safety considerations.

Discussion of setup for home dyeing including materials, equipment and safety will be covered.

Take notes during workshop is advised. A list of basic supplies needed and a resource sheet will be available after registration.

About Christine:

Christine Harrison is a visual artist living on the Oregon Coast. She uses the botanical abundance of her habitat as the beginning of her paintings, prints and sculpture. She is working to take plastics and toxic materials out of her art process. She has been a practicing artist 40 years receiving a MFA (1989) from California College of the Arts, San Francisco, CA.
