Like drawing, painting, or printmaking and looking to create art in a relaxed and supportive environment while expanding your knowledge of art? This studio will mix lectures about important topics like studio safety, archival storage and presentation, and artwork documentation with guided studio time. Students will be encouraged to try out new art media and develop their own artwork.

Week 1 (Oct 30) Lecture: Studio Safety + Guided Studio Time
Week 2 (Nov 6) Lecture: Archival Storage & Presentation + Guided Studio Time
Week 3 (Nov 13) Lecture: Finding Inspiration from Art History + Guided Studio Time
Week 4 (Nov 20) Lecture: Documenting Artwork on a Budget + Guided Studio Time

At the end of the course there will be an exhibition of students’ work at the Georgetown Book Hill Library.
Since this is an open Studio, there are no essential Supplies. Students are expected to bring any supplies they like to work with. Below is a list of supplies for drawing and painting which I recommend.

Bio
William Demaria is a Baltimore based artist who has always loved drawing and traditional oil painting. He finds the process of creating artwork itself to be beautiful and has always been interested in studying the way artwork is made. He believes that every student, no matter their skill level, has an individual voice that should be developed. His teaching style is flexible and the pace of his classes adapts to suite individual students needs
