Learn the basics of relief printing, carving in wood or linoleum and printing with black Akua ink. Explore how much can be achieved working in just black and white. Bring an idea or drawing for a 5 x 7 inch block. It can be a photo or a drawing or other piece of artwork. I will bring some magazines, but the more formed your idea, the faster you can get started. In the first hour, we will walk through the steps involved and begin work transposing design onto a woodblock/lino. Then we will start carving the block! In the second hour, we will tear our paper and print an edition of 4-6 from the blocks we carved. Students will take home 4 small prints. Tuition includes the cost of supplies: ink, paper & the use of tools. Appropriate for beginners and those with previous experience.
