The abstracted sculptures of Ron Meick reference both Russian constructivist art of the 1920s and the natural world.

Ron Meick is displaying abstract sculptures or “constructions” that utilize various wood elements to construct geometric delineations of space. The artist influenced by this ten years of beekeeper, applies encaustic wax pigments, a combination of pigment, beeswax and damar resin, to the “constructions.” This wax application softens the hard-edge structures and presents color references to connection points, elements in the composition, ending points, weighting of mass, balance, and reflection of color. The counterpoint of color and space increase the layers of meaning and emotional content.

His latest works, ranging in scale from 6 inches to 6 feet, have been influenced by current events, such as the war in Ukraine.
