The First Place Prize in the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) 2017 Small Works Exhibition has been awarded to artist member Matina Marki Tillman. The exhibition was held during the month of February at the NAWA gallery in New York City. NAWA, the oldest women’s fine art organization in the United States (founded in 1889), represents a vibrant community of visual women artists from across the country.

Tillman’s work will also be exhibited during March and April in Women’s Works 2017, 30th Anniversary international fine art exhibition celebrating women artists annually at the historic Old Courthouse Arts Center outside of Chicago, Illinois. Tillman herself, in an extended portion of her etchings and drawings, has embodied the female figure and used it as a medium to highlight conditions of the human existence such as desolation, reflection, and creative inspiration.
