National Small Works 2010 Call for Entries Announced
About NSW-The National Small Works is annual juried exhbition that has been hosted by Washington Printmakers Gallery every August since 1997. Featuring contemporary artist-pulled prints, NSW exhibits an impressive array of technique as well as subject matter by limiting the size of print entries (maximum size of 170 square inches). Each year a curator from an area institution acts as juror. Past jurors have included Eric Denker (Senior Lecturer National Gallery of Art); Linda C. Simmons (Curator Emeritus, The Corcoran Gallery of Art); Katherine L. Blood (Curator of Fine Prints, Library of Congress); and Helen Frederick (Founder and longtime director of Pyramic Atlantic); to name a few. This year's juror, Christopher With, recently retired from the National Gallery of Art, where he worked for over thirty years, most recently as Coordinator of the Art Information Volunteer Program. Holding a PhD from UCLA, With has written and lectured widely; his article on German artist Max Liebermann in American collections will be published this year.

-Up to four (4) slides. One slide per entry; must be 35mm, standard thickness (no glass mounts). Label viewing side with your name & address, title of work, dimensions. Number each slide to correspond with entry form and place a large dot on lower left corner to indicate bottom of image. - CD:MAIL the following to:

-Completed Entry Form -Entry Fee of $35 -CD containing up to 4 jpeg images. One jpeg per entry: 200 dpi, no larger than 5 inches in either dimension. Title images in this exact manner: last name, first name, entry number

Mark the artist’s full name on the CD face and case with permanent marker. (Do not affix labels.) CD’s will not be returned. - Online (preferred method): Artists create a profile, upload images, and pay the entry fee here

This exhibition is open to any artist 18 years of age or older residing in the United States of America. Submitted works must be the following:

Original hand-pulled prints completed within the past two years.
Digital prints and photographs are not eligible.
Submissions must be no larger than 170 square inches (H x W).
Frames must be no wider than 18 inches.
Submission Instructions-
We are accepting 3 methods of submissions, Slides, CD and online. Artists may submit up to four images via slides or CD for $35. Artists may submit up to 4 images online for $30, and an additional $10/image after that. We strongly encourage artists to submit online(directions below).
