Call For Entries
Washington Printmakers Gallery is seeking US resident artists (age 18 and over) who create hand-pulled prints, handmade paper, and/or book arts who are interested in submitting proposals for month-long exhibitions in the ‘Press Room’, for the 2012 season. At least ¾ of work to be exhibited must relate to the categories listed above. Shows may be solo or group exhibitions. Applications are due 12/31/2011. There is no fee to apply.
About the Press Room
The vault for Little Tavern Hamburgers, the original tenant of the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center building was retrofitted as an exhibition space by WPG in 2011. The room is 17x10 feet, white-washed, with fixed lighting and 46.5 linear feet of 3 in deep (4 in including the lip) display shelving around the perimeter. Outlets are available for installation purposes. The room also houses a small printing press (hence the room’s name) with a 13x36 in. bed, available for demonstrations. Depending upon number of entries, a second round of reviews may be held. Those artists may be asked to submit physical work for review.

Proposals will be reviewed by Director and panel of Artist Members from WPG. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out on 02/18/12.
Other Information
There is an exhibition fee of $200 for accepted artists. This fee includes use of the space, representation by a professional gallery director for length of show, insurance of works while at WPG, announcements to approximately 2,500 emails in Washington Printmakers Gallery’s weekly e-vites and features on WPG’s Facebook page, Twitter account, and blog. The gallery will retain a 40% commission (artists set their own prices).
Artists will be responsible for his or her own show cards and installation materials. Artists are responsible for installation and de-installation of their show with dates agreed upon with the Director. Artists MUST have all installation material (sound, video, etc.) approved by Director before installation. Any damage to the Press Room as a result of the installation is the Artist’s responsibility. WPG will not be held responsible for any injury or damage to personal property (other than the artworks insured) that occur on gallery premises.
