WPG Lecture Series

Washington Printmakers Gallery offers educational lectures through a series of programs.

Our Guest Lecture Series invites celebrated printmakers, curators and other specialists to the gallery to speak on their expertise for the benefit of the DC printmaking and collecting community. In recent programs, artist Takuji Kubo offered a lecture/demonstration of copper engraving, Professor Tran Van Dinh spoke on “The TAO of Art: Artistic Inspiration”. The lecture series also met at the National Gallery of Art's Department of Prints and Drawings for a lecture about paper and papermaking by NGA Paper Conservator Kimberly Schenk. These lectures occur on a semi-annual basis.

Our Docent Series is a free educational program offered to docents from area museums, such as the Corcoran and the National Gallery of Art. Several WPG artists walk through a series of print processes to give a general understanding of the depth and breadth of hand-pulled printing techniques. The Docent Series is scheduled upon request.

Demonstration of printmaking techniques for area schools and groups can also be requested, sponsored by Washington Printmakers Foundation.

If your docent group or school is interested in participating, please contact our Lecture Chairwoman Rosemary Cooley.
