Artist members Matina Marki Tillman and Cynthia Back are participating in the 37th Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibition sponsored by Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. The Bradley International is the second-longest continuously running juried print and drawing exhibition in the country, and artwork for this year’s exhibition will be on display in the Bradley University Galleries from the opening on March 9th through April 12th.
Matina’s print “Equilibrium” portrays a human in his suspended step, trying to keep his balance under the gravity of an implicit spirituality. This piece is part of a body of work called Shifts and Variations, a series of humanographies that focus on the weight of the instant.
Cynthia’s print “Andes: Urban Panorama #4” is from a series of 5 (currently on view at WPG) made following a trip to Ecuador. It is a two-block reduction woodcut.
The 37th Bradley International was juried by Janet Ballweg, Professor of Creative Arts Excellence and the head of the Printmaking Program at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Cynthia and Matina are two of 109 artists represented from within the United States and around the world. Both of them exhibit their prints nationally in multiple venues, including the Washington Printmakers Gallery where Cynthia’s current solo exhibition “RELIEF” is on display through the month of March.
