Curated by Sally Brucker, artist and art therapist, The Listening Room-Refugee Art Project, is a collaborative art installation utilizing sound, story, poetry, and mixed media. It is inspired by the stories of eight refugees from Ethiopia, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Iran, Darfur, El Salvador, and Vietnam, who are currently living in the greater Washington, DC area.  Seven artists and one poet worked individually with a refugees, in an effort to more deeply understand the complexity and depth  of their experience. The resulting artwork conveys the unique aspect of each story and the shared connections formed through the process of “listening.”
