Artist Statement

“Weathering” and “work” are ongoing personal themes. Weathering, in addition to “the weather” also means endurance, perseverance, surviving difficult times, and aging. Work, not always a job, describes the physical relationship between energy, and objects. Therefore, weathering and work are related phenomena. I explore these concepts using multiple print media to capture the marks, signs, and feel of this environmentally and emotionally rich theme.

My prints come from observing the imprint of weathering and work on different surfaces. Some prints derive from exposing media to the weather: the marks of rain, the seemingly random scratches made by moving branches and the work of sand and wind on surfaces. Others incorporate what weather may look like or the appearance of aged topographies. Still others celebrate the physical and emotional effects of endurance, resolve, and the impact of time.

My work is in private and public collections throughout the USA, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
